2002 Heart and Stroke Statistical Update

  About These Statistics
All statistics are for the most recent year available. 1999 final mortality figures are used. Prevalence statistics and hospital discharges/hospitalizations are computed for 1999 unless otherwise noted; figures on incidence and economic cost are for 2002. Death rates and prevalence are age-adjusted (unless otherwise specified) per 100,000 population using the 2000 U.S. standards as the base.
